National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. NPLD 2015 will take place on Saturday, September 26. Come out and help keep Nevada wild and celebrate your public lands! Click the photo for more details on NPLD across the nation.
Join us as we partner with the Winnemucca District BLM, Nevada Outdoor School, and Friends of Black Rock and head out to the Black Rock Desert, just outside Trego Hot Springs. We will be working to clean up a trash dump at the base of Old Razorback mountain. There are cans, propane tanks, a burnt car and a boat, among other things. We plan to camp on the Playa just outside Trego Hot Springs. Click here for directions to the camp site. This is subject to change, weather pending. We will also be helping the BLM remove an barbed wire fence that no longer is needed. It will be a great opportunity to improve your public lands!
It will be a weekend full of laughter and good times, with a little of hard work thrown in. There will be a Dutch Oven Cook-off/Potluck with prizes! Judging will happen at 6:30 pm on Saturday. Camping on the Playa is a unique opportunity for star gazing and solitude. Also don't forget your bathing suit to lounge in Trego Hot Springs.
Nevada Outdoor School will be hosting their famous Kids Camp. Activities, education, and fun will be provided for kids of all ages during the workday from 8 to 4 pm. Along with Friends of Black Rock-High Rock, we will provide a continental breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
As usual, there will be plenty of food and exceptionally fun and wild times. The trip is weather pending and may be changed or cancelled due to weather. Also, access to the clean up site is limited to 4x4 and high clearance, there will be carpool options available and drive to the work site is at your own risk.
