Friends of Nevada Wilderness and volunteers will be working with the Ely Ranger District of the U.S. Forest Service on a restoration project at Silver Creek in the Mt. Moriah Wilderness. Volunteers will work together to erase illegal vehicle tracks penetrating the wilderness boundary and restore the area to its natural character, through rock and boulder placement, vertical mulching, and transplanting native plants and other materials.
Water, tools and dinner will be provided by Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the U.S. Forest Service. Volunteers are responsible for their own lunch.
Friends of Nevada Wilderness will be transporting and carpooling with volunteers from Reno, NV and volunteers from elsewhere are welcome to join (meeting location at site will be determined).
Trip will involve significant travel to project site and campout on Friday night. Project work is planned for Saturday and will be followed by dinner provided by Friends of Nevada Wilderness. After the Saturday night campout, we travel home on Sunday.
Mount Moriah Wilderness is about one-hour drive east of Ely, Nevada.
