Repair the Mustang Springs catchment dam
Start Date: 5/4/2012
End Date: 5/6/2012
Location: Mustang Springs
State Region: Northwest Nevada
Event Type: Stewardship
We will be repairing a catchment dam at the spring. This trip involves a fairly-strenuous 4-mile (round trip) hike. Volunteers will use shovels and buckets to clean out the catchment. Then they will fill sand bags to rebuild the breach in catchment and reconstruct the overflow with rock. Pick work is also involved in this project. We will camp along the wilderness boundary and hike to the project area from camp.
Another team will monitor springs in the area, which will also require off-trail hiking.
High clearance vehicles are required. Transportation can be provided.
This trip is categorized as Strenuous/Labor Intensive.
