Tom Basin burn area restoration project #2 NOTE: DATE CHANGE
Start Date: 4/21/2012
End Date: 4/21/2012
Location: Paradise Valley (45 minutes north of Winnemucca)
State Region: Northwest Nevada
Event Type: Stewardship
NOTE: DATE CHANGE - This project was originally announced for April 27-29, but a timing conflict arose with the Forest Service, so the date has changed to a one-day outing on April 21.
We will be working in coordination with the Forest Service, the Nevada Department of Wildlife and the Nevada Outdoor School.
Volunteers will work to restore areas crucial for mule deer and sage grouse areas that were seriously damaged by the 2011 Tom Basin fire. We will be cutting willow and possibly gathering bitterbrush seeds to stockpile for future projects. Your work will help revive this land and help assure that it will thrive for future generations. This will be a great spring event on the Santa Rosa Ranger District!
Camping area will be determined. Check with us as we get closer to the date. Friends will provide a light breakfast and dinner for all volunteers. Please call (775) 623-5656 or
email Brenna, or call (775) 762-6730 or email Wes for more info. Carpooling from Reno and Winnemucca can be arranged
