South Loop Trail - trail work
Start Date: 10/24/2010
Time: 7:00 am
End Date: 10/24/2010
Time: 5:00 pm
Location: Mt Charleston Wilderness, South Loop trail
State Region: Southern Nevada
Event Type: Stewardship
Through an exclusive relationship with the Las Vegas Mountaineering Club we have an opportunity to improve the mountains we so often climb. This event will include the rehabilitation of the South Loop Trail in Mt. Charleston on the upper switchbacks. This part of the trail has been heavily abused by people cutting switchbacks and is in need of repair.
On Saturday, October 23, we will have a BBQ for attendees at 4:00 pm. We will car camp to get an early start on Sunday. The BBQ and camp is optional and simply an opportunity to hang out on the mountain.
Sunday morning we will hike up near the saddle to repair the switchback cuts. We will carry tools to the switchbacks as well as all water needed for the day. Strong fitness is required in order to hike up and do the heavy work needed to rehab the area. This trip is open to adults, seniors, and groups who are in hiking shape.
Please let Kurt know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for helping improve your public lands!
