The Ten-Mile area lies directly adjacent to wilderness proposals in the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge. Wilderness designation of this area would make a logical addition to proposed wilderness in the Sheldon.
The Ten-Mile unit forms an integral connection for wildlife moving between the refuge and the Black Rock NCA, a few miles to the south. The Sand Creek drainage is an excellent example of a connectivity route for wildlife.
Vast open spaces marked by high, flat-topped tables, striking cliff faces with nesting raptors and numerous springs and seeps provide "Category 1 sage-grouse habitat."
Wildlife: sage grouse, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, mule deer, raptors
