Wilderness is Patriotic
Author Unknown
Few things are more patriotic than working with your fellow
citizens and elected members of Congress, using rules set forth in our Constitution,
to preserve our nation’s natural heritage—America the Beautiful.
Wilderness is a nonpartisan issue. Many of America’s great
early wilderness advocates were Republican; wilderness legislation has been signed
by every president since Lyndon Johnson signed the Wilderness Act; and current
wilderness successes in Nevada are thanks to the bipartisan teamwork of Nevada’s
Congressional Delegation, led by Senator Harry Reid (D) and Senator John Ensign (R).
Conserving wilderness is inherently conservative. It’s also
progressive in the best Teddy Roosevelt sense of the word. Let’s put our politics
aside, roll our sleeves up, and work together for wilderness!
