Amateur and professional nature photographers are invited to submit photographs for the 2009 Wild Nevada calendar. This handsome wall calendar is a public-outreach effort by Friends of Nevada Wilderness raise awareness and appreciation of Nevada’s beautiful public lands, so we can all enjoy them for generations to come. The Wild Nevada calendar is a great venue to advertise your photographic talents and help protect Nevada’s wildlands. Over the past several years, the Wild Nevada calendar's reputation for quality has become widely known, and many people eagerly await each new edition.

The 2009 Wild Nevada calendar will need a diversity of images:

  • Seasons (spring wildflowers, fall colors, snow scenes).

  • Photos with and without people — people enjoying/exploring Nevada’s wild landscapes (hiking, skiing, hunting, etc.), or landscapes without people.

  • Regional photos. We need images from across the state, with emphasis placed on Clark, Lincoln, Nye, Washoe, White Pine, Esmeralda, Mineral and Lyon counties. However, all quality images will be considered, from any wild Nevada locations.

  • Designated wilderness, wilderness study areas (WSAs) and other proposed wilderness areas. This calendar celebrates designated wilderness areas, as well as areas that are proposed for wilderness designation (BLM WSAs and Forest Service roadless areas). Call us to discuss details.

  • Wildlife and macro photography.

  • Small accent shots (strong horizontals) to fill the empty squares in each month.

Formats accepted:

  • High-quality slides (35mm or medium format). Dupes are welcome for initial consideration. Original slides will be necessary for final use.

  • Negatives. Quality color negatives are welcome.

  • Digital. Low-resolution images are fine for initial submission (on CD, over website, via email, etc). Winning photos will need to be at least 30 megs. We’ll accept scans in jpg, tiff or RAW format. We can also scan slides.

Although we cannot pay for photos, we will be proud to credit and provide contact information for all photographers, to provide complimentary copies of the calendar, and to provide a receipt (the value of your image donation can be tax-deductible). This calendar has boosted sales for several of our photographers.

Please label all submissions with your name. If you want your photos returned, please provide your address and a SASE. We are not responsible for any slides or photos that are not labeled with your name and contact information.
