The Alder Creek WSA lies on the west flank of the Pine Forest Range, a mountain range with a predominantly sagebrush steppe ecosystem mixed with subalpine and riparian zones. Stands of conifers are found in the higher elevations. The land is steep to rolling with granite outcrops. Elevations in the WSA range from 5,600 to 7,900 feet.
Adjacent to the water rich Blue Lakes WSA, Alder Creek is great for hiking, hunting, fishing and horse packing.
This Wilderness Study Area is a component of the Bureau of Land Management's National Conservation Lands.
Wildlife: Mule deer, sage grouse and mountain lion.
