We Need YOU to Protect Public Lands

Next week, the “Bundy Bill” or A.B. 408 will be heard in the Nevada Assembly Natural Resources committee. This is a dangerous piece of legislation, which once again threatens access to our public lands.

Can you attend the hearing in Carson City, Las Vegas or Elko on AB408 on Tuesday, March 31st at 1:30 p.m.?

Yes! RSVP here.

No, but I want to register my opinion against AB408. On the drop-down menu, click AB408 and "Against"

This bill could allow Nevada's protected lands like our wilderness areas, Red Rock Canyon, the Black Rock Desert Conservation Area, and Great Basin National Park to be given to individuals or corporations for "beneficial use." There is no constitutional basis for Nevada taking ownership and management of federal public lands. Many states have tried and all have failed.

This bill values grazing, mining, timber, and development over all other uses of land in our state and would bankrupt Nevada in the implementation of this insane system. Wildlife would be given the shaft along with public recreation and outdoor tourism. It is unclear whether the public will be allowed on the land that is being "put to beneficial use."

You can use the sample language above to tell your legislators via email or using the opinion link above that we will not stand for this type of legislation in our state! We should not be rewarding an extreme rancher and his posse for their bad behavior by giving them special treatment at the Nevada legislature. Nevada’s public lands belong in the public hands. We should not be selling our land to the highest bidder.

We know the Bundy and his crew plan to turn out in force on Tuesday and we need you to be there as well to tell our side of the story! WE NEED YOU!
